Solely owned by the Government of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines was founded on December 21, 1945. Its first operational flight took off on 8 April 1946 to Cairo. It flagged its international flights in 1951. Formerly known as Ethiopian Air lines, it changed its name to Ethiopian Airlines in 1965 when the firm became a share company. The airlines has its headquarters at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa.

Business class: The business class of Ethiopian airlines is called Cloud Nine. Carry-on baggage:
Business class: Business Class passengers are entitled to carry two bags with each piece not exceeding the maximum limit of 15lbs.
Economy class: Economy Class passengers are entitled to carry one bag not exceeding 15 lbs. and 9 x 15 x 21 inches.
In addition to carry-on baggage, a passenger is also allowed to carry certain items that may not exceed maximum weight limit of 11lbs such as a lady handbag, pocket book or purse, a laptop and an overcoat, wrap or blanket.
Also, the passengers who are dependent on wheelchairs, pair of crutches, and /or braces or other prosthetic devices are allowed to carry it with them in addition to the carry-on baggage.
Checked baggage:
Cloud Nine passengers can check-in either 2 pieces, with each piece not exceeding 70 lbs. or 3 pieces with each pieces not exceeding 50 lbs.
Economy Class passengers can check-in 2 pieces with each piece not exceeding 50 lbs.
The maximum dimensions of each piece must not exceed 62 inches.
